We’ve got a bit of catching up to do!

Helping Folks in Redding Audrey Denney just sent out a a couple of emails with info on how you can help our neighbors to the north. In case you missed it here’s what she sent out: We’re helping the VFW in Paradise, CA collect supplies for the Carr Fire evacuees and fire crews. Please donate: water, Gatorade, new baby items, nonperishable food, new underwear, socks, child and adult diapers, pet food, toiletries, and N95 respirators for the volunteers delivering items to Redding, CA. No used clothing is needed at this time. Shelters will only accept new items right now. DROP-OFF LOCATIONS:

* Paradise, CA: Veterans Hall located at 6550 Skyway at Elliott Road, Saturday and Sunday starting at 9:30am

* Chico, CA: 3209 Esplanade Suite 140, Saturday, 10:30am-8:00pm and Sunday starting at 9:30am Getting Involved with Campaigns for Upcoming Elections There are a number of great candidates out there getting ready to triumph in the upcoming elections in November. Since the bulk of what we do is to make a change and get people mobilized we want to provide you with candidate information and links to get you connected with the campaigns to help these great people get into official positions. Here’s the info you need (in no particular order):

Chico City Council Candidates:

US Congressional candidate for our district (CD01)

The collective work of Mobilize may appear to have slowed down a bit, but many members have spent more time helping campaigns. The above info was provided to help you do the same (if you’re not already assisting). Get out there and let’s make sure these great candidates get elected! Signs for Solidarity (SfS): Sunday, Aug 5, 4-6pm @ 20th & MLK There are a number This Sunday we’ll be holding our first Sunday Signs for Solidarity (SfS) on the corner (or hopefully all corners with a large enough turnout) of 20th & MLK. If you’ve not yet made it to our monthly SfS gatherings you really should come. If you have made it to one of our SfS meetups you really should come again! We have plenty of signs to provide for a small army but if you want to bring your own please make sure that the message on your sign is positive (the graphic at the top of this email is a fine example). Look to the bottom of this email to learn more about SfS.

Other Upcoming Events:
  • Sunday, August 12: Mobilize meeting from 12:15 to 1:45pm at the Chico Peace and Justice Center
  • August 23-26: Keep Pride In Mind hosted by Stonewall Alliance (http://www.stonewallchicopride.com/)

Hope everyone is well! Roderick for Mobilize

More about Signs for Solidarity:

The purpose of Signs for Solidarity is to be a visible, vocal force of love and support for people of color, immigrants, the LBGTQ+ community, religious minorities, and all those who are under increased threat. The main way we accomplish this is by gathering at different locations in Chico and holding signs with positive, supportive messages such as “Black Lives Matter,” “Immigrants Make America Great,” “Transgender Rights are Human Rights,” and “Build Kindness Not Walls.” Signs for Solidarity events are fun, positive, and a great opportunity to get to know your fellow activists in Chico.
